Collective Conversations: The Vista Foundation 48 Hour Film Festival

Listen to our podcast of the conversation below!

We were delighted to kick off Collective Conversations with a chat with managers from the 48 Hour Film Festival on 16 July, ahead of this year’s competition.

Festival National Manager Ness Patea, Across Aotearoa regional manager Fran Carney and Outreach/ Wellington region manager Thomas Coppell joined Amalia for a great chat about the new Across Aotearoa region format, what makes this competition so special - from working with your creative constraints to the epic sense of community it builds nationwide, and top tips for your preparation and success.

Tempted to take on the challenge?

Whether you're a seasoned team leader or a first-timer keen to get stuck in, now’s the time to start pulling your team together. This year’s shoot weekend is August 16–18, and registrations are open now via 48hours.co.nz.

Looking for teammates?
Jump into the Southern Filmmakers Collective Facebook group and post what you're looking for or what you have to offer! It’s a fantastic way to connect up with new local collaborators, have a heap of fun, and take a shot at greatness.

Let’s get some Otago-Southland chaos on screen!

SFC is excited to relaunch online members talks with Collective Conversations, relaxed online chats hearing from members and leaders across the industry.

“You want to prep enough that you have a safety blanket around you, but not too much so that you’re not responsive to the joy of discovery and the joy of adapting to those prompts and the inspiration that comes from that because you’ll find an even better film.” - Thomas Coppell (Outreach Manager, Wellington Region Manager)
